As first reported by British outlet Football Insider, Crystal Palace seem to be targeting a new reinforcement for their midfield.

Last season the middle of the pitch was one of Palace' glaring weaknesses, and new manager Patrick Vieira is reportedly set on turning it into a strength, hence it makes sense that the club is interested in Huddersfield's Lewis O'Brien. The 22-year old was recently linked with Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United, but it looks like tals have stalled on that front, leaving the door wide open for Palace to swoop in.

O'Brien made 42 appearances for Huddersfield last season in the Championship, and has shown the ability to be an assist-man as well as a disruptor in the midfield, qualities that make him a well rounded and versatile player, something that Crystal Palace are now hoping to bring to their squad. We'll see if they will be able to beat Leeds in the end, but it looks more and more likely that we will see O'Brien play in the Premier League this season.
