Chelsea will revive their interest in Jules Kounde in January if Sevilla lower their asking price to €50 million (£43m/$59m), according to ESPN.
It looked as though the Blues would be able to reach an agreement to sign the defender in the summer window, but the Liga side ultimately decided to stand strong on the player's €80m (£68m/$95m) buyout clause.
The report suggests Kounde had made significant progress on agreeing a long-term deal with the Blues and is keen to make the move, but a transfer will ultimately depend on whether Sevilla settle for a bid lower than his buyout clause.
