In an attempt to explain the downturn in fortunes for Arsenal and Tottenham ahead of Sunday's north London derby, Mikel Arteta suggested the Premier League was now a "another planet" in terms of quality.
With teams like Leicester and West Ham challenging the traditional "top six" of Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool, Arteta claimed England's top flight is "a different planet now."
"The Premier League has never been as strong as this," the Spaniard said on Friday.
"Because of the quality of the teams, the quality and participation of the organization, the quality of the coaches and players, it's the strongest league in history - it's never been that strong."
Arsenal has won three games in a row in all competitions after losing their first three Premier League games, the worst start to a league season in 67 years.
