Ghana win first pre-Nations Cup friendly by thrashing Portuguese side Olhanense 3-0

Ghana gave their preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations a boost with a comfortable  3-0 win over Portuguese second-tier Olhanense on Wednesday.

Everton winger Christian Atsu opened the scoring on 20 minutes before debutant striker Kwesi Appiah added the second just after the second half.

Coach Avram Grant then replaced the entire squad which started the match and introduced a stronger squad featuring captain Asamoah Gyan, Andre Ayew, Harrison Afful, Mohammed Rabiu just to mention a few.

In-form striker Jordan Ayew has scored the third to complete the win.

Ghana's next match will be on 14 January against a relatively tougher opponent SC Freiburg of Germany.

Black Stars starting lineup for Olhanense friendly:

Ernest Sowah-Samuel Inkoom, John Boye, Awal Mohammed, Edwin Gyimah- Afriyie Acquah, Frank Acheampong, Ibrahim Moro, Mubarak Wakaso, Christian Atsu, Kwesi Appiah

Second half squad: 

Fatau Dauda, Harrison Afful, Baba Abdul Rahman, Jonathan Mensah, Daniel Amartey, Mohammed Rabiu, Solomon Asante, David Accam, Asamoah Gyan, Jordan Ayew, Andre Ayew.

    we did not understand kwesi appiah's inclusion to the stars provisional squard, but now he has started proven himself that he is indeed one of the best strikers the nation has at the moment. lets give him the maximum support and he will be a good player for us. good luck KWESI.

    I told u all that this kwesi appiah boy shld be kept,selection of players shldnt be base on names but players who r willing and ready to die for the nation,if asamoah gyan is to be taken off from the 26 man spuad so be it.this will send a good signal to the rest of the team that there is no first choice in the team,whoever performs has been given the mandate.kudos boys and keep it up
