Players of Nigeria decent Noah Okafor and Manuel Akanji were on parade on Tuesday as Portugal with Ronaldo on the bench annihilate Switzerland 6-1 in the final round of 16 game played, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

Akanji who has been an integral part of the the Swiss team since the chose them ahead of Nigeria played a key role as they picked the runners up ticket for the second round ahead of Cameroon and Serbia from group G.

The Portuguese attacks on the night were too strong for Akanji and his colleagues at the back to curtail and they were thoroughly beaten 6-1 by their European counterpart.

Goncalo Ramos who replaced Ronaldo in the starting lineup scored his first international hat-trick as Pepe, Guerreiro and AC Milan's Leão all scored in the rout.

Manuel Akanji got Switzerland's only goal of the game as they head back home from Qatar with their heads low.

Manuel Akanji's national teammate, Noah Okafor who is also a Nigerian decent was introduced in the second half of the encounter but it was rather too late as he failed to spark the team back to life.

Portugal will now face Morocco, the only African team left in the tournament in one of Saturday's quarterfinal.
