Portugal will aim to make it four consecutive victories in the UEFA Nations League 2026-27 when they host Norway at Estadio do Dragao on Sunday evening.
Jorge Jesus’ side lead Group 4 of League A with nine points from three matches. Norway are third on three points, level with Denmark, who sit second.
Portugal have made a perfect start to their campaign, opening with a 1-0 win over Wales before beating Norway 2-1 in Oslo. They followed that result with a 4-2 victory against Denmark in their most recent fixture.
The reigning champions, who defeated Spain on penalties in the 2024-25 final, are the most successful team in the competition’s history with two titles. A third triumph remains a realistic possibility.
Portugal have also lost just one of their 12 previous meetings with Norway and have won the past three encounters, including last month’s first-leg victory.
Norway will arrive looking to stop a run of two successive defeats. After beginning their campaign with a 3-2 win over Denmark, Stale Solbakken’s team were beaten by Portugal and then lost 2-1 to Wales.
They now trail Portugal by six points and will face Wales and Denmark in November. Norway are competing in League A for the first time after gaining promotion from League B in 2024-25, having also reached the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup. A positive result in Porto would provide encouragement before those upcoming matches.
Portugal’s Nations League form is V-V-V, while Norway’s is V-D-D.
The hosts will be without Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the squad after a disagreement with Jorge Jesus. Ronaldo had remained on the substitutes’ bench throughout the defeat of Denmark, and it is now considered highly unlikely that he will represent his country again.
Goncalo Ramos, who has scored in two successive matches, is expected to lead the Portugal attack. Bruno Fernandes should start after recovering from a minor fitness concern and producing an excellent performance against Denmark. Joao Neves and Joao Felix could also come into the starting XI, while Francisco Conceicao’s thigh injury will be assessed before the final decision is made.
Norway defender Torbjørn Heggem is suspended after being sent off against Wales, with Marcus Pedersen likely to move into central defence. Erling Haaland, who scored against Portugal in late September but struggled to influence the match against Wales, is set to lead the visitors’ attack. Thelo Aasgaard and Antonio Nusa are also candidates to start.
Expected Portugal XI: Costa; Cancelo, Dias, Veiga, Mendes; Joao Neves, Vitinha; Neto, Fernandes, Felix; Ramos.
Expected Norway XI: Nyland; Ryerson, Ajer, Pedersen, Wolfe; Ødegaard, Berge, Aasgaard; Bobb, Haaland, Nusa.
The suggested selections are a Portugal win at 1.58, both teams to score at 1.48 and Goncalo Ramos to score at 2.00. The predicted exact score is Portugal 2-1 Norway, priced at 7.50 with Betclic.
