Poland and Mexico were level at 1-1 at half-time in their Women’s Under-20 World Cup Group A match after an intense opening period produced two goals inside the first 10 minutes.
Mexico took the lead in the fifth minute when unfortunate Poland defender Bartczak turned the ball into her own net. The early goal gave the visitors an advantage, but Poland responded almost immediately.
Backed by the home crowd, Poland restored parity four minutes later through their goalscorer Zwiazek, who kept her composure to finish an equaliser in the ninth minute.
The rapid exchange set the tone for an energetic first half, with both sides making a quick start and neither allowing the match to settle in its opening stages. Mexico then began to impose greater control through their technical quality, retaining possession for long periods and finishing the half with 58% of the ball.
Despite Mexico’s superiority in possession, Poland’s defence remained organised after the equaliser. The hosts resisted the pressure and ensured that Mexico could not turn its control of the ball into another goal before the interval.
The score remained 1-1 as the teams went into the dressing rooms, leaving the second half evenly poised. Mexico’s technical dominance had brought control of the contest, while Poland’s response to the early own goal had kept the hosts level.

There were no further goals before half-time, even though Mexico controlled 58% of possession. Poland’s defence held firm under that pressure, while Mexico were unable to find a second breakthrough before the interval.
As a result, the two teams remain level at the break, with Mexico having enjoyed the greater share of the ball and Poland having shown a strong reaction to falling behind so early.
