Pleased Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood says new signing Jordan Ayew is perfectly suited for the Premier League

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has hailed the acquisition of Jordan Ayew, insisting the Ghana striker is ‘perfectly’ suited for the Premier League.

The 23-year-old signed a five-year contract on Monday to complete his move from French club Lorient.

Ayew’s move is reportedly worth €12m and will be joining his senior brother, Andre, in the English top flight.

Elated Villa boss Tim Sherwood admits he is pleased with the signing of the former Olympique Marseille youngster and believes he is best placed to excel in the Premiership.

"I'm really pleased to bring Jordan to the football club,” Sherwood noted.

"He is a fantastic young player who is perfectly suited to the Premier League."

Jordan joins Villa just a year after moving to Lorient from Marseille.

He scored 12 goals in 29 first team appearances for Lorient.
