Luis García Plaza is counting on Akor Adams to play a decisive role in Sevilla’s fight against relegation, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Sevilla boosted their survival hopes with a crucial 2-1 victory over Atlético Madrid, ending a three-game losing streak in La Liga. The result moved Los Rojiblancos up to 15th on the table, three points clear of the relegation zone.
Adams played a key role in the win, opening the scoring for Plaza’s side. The Nigerian forward has been in fine form this season and currently leads Sevilla’s La Liga scoring chart with eight goals in 26 appearances.
Speaking after the match, Plaza expressed confidence in the striker’s ability to deliver more in the remaining games of the campaign.
“Akor still has more to offer because we know what he’s capable of. Rubén gave everything until he ran out of energy,” he told the club’s official website.
“The academy players must provide that extra spark, but every player is important,” the Sevilla boss added, as the team looks to build momentum in their bid to secure top-flight safety.
