Plateau United Striker Victor Namo is confident His Will Defeat Akwa United

Victor Namo is confident that he can lead Plateau United from the front very well when they face Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, otherwise known as the Nest of Champions, in the NPFL this Friday.

The striker, who last year returned from Libyan side, Al Ahly Benghazi, owing to unrest in the North African nation, is keen to make a mark at the Nest of Champions against The Promise Keepers in this season's first Friday night game.

Namo is also hoping to score in Uyo in his successive visit against Akwa United after netting the equaliser in a 1-1 draw while playing for Nasarawa United in September 2013.

"We are hopeful of doing well on Friday," began Namo, who scored 19 goals to emerge top scorer in the 2013 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season while talking to supersport.com on the eve of the game.

"Akwa United are now a very different team from the one I played against in 2013. They have won the Federation Cup and they have played on the continent and they have a coach (Maurice Cooreman) who many respect. So it is always going to be difficult playing them, especially at their home ground where I hear they hardly lose matches these days.

"I remember the last time I played against them, and I scored the goal that gave my team then, Nasarawa United, a point. So I wouldn't mind if I score in this one, though the most important thing is that we get a good result."

Namo has scored once in two appearances for Plateau United including making just one start after he got cleared to feature for the Jos club before the first transfer window for the season shuts down on Friday.
