Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden says Enzo Maresca’s words helped him score his first goal of 2026 in Saturday’s 3-2 Premier League victory over Ipswich.
The 26-year-old England international opened the scoring against Ipswich, with the result maintaining Manchester City’s unbeaten start to the league season.
Foden’s goal was his first since December last year. Before the match, Maresca had predicted that the long-awaited breakthrough would come against Ipswich.
“Maresca’s words gave me confidence,” Foden said.
Manchester City have taken 21 points from their opening seven Premier League matches and remain without defeat.
