Paul Scholes has admitted he was one of the reasons Paul Pogba left Manchester United in 2012.
The Manchester United legend made the disclosure on the podcast The Good, The Bad & The Football, acknowledging that his return to the club played a part in the French midfielder’s decision to move on.
Scholes had announced his retirement in the summer of 2011, but returned to the team six months later at the request of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Pogba subsequently spent four seasons with Juventus after leaving Manchester United. In 2016, Manchester United brought him back to Old Trafford for a club-record fee of 105 million euros.
During his second spell with Manchester United, Pogba made more than 200 appearances, scoring 39 goals and providing 51 assists.
