Paul Onuachu set to snub West Ham as he eyes Arsenal move

Published on: 23 June 2021

West Ham target Paul Onuachu has expressed interest in joining English Premier League side Arsenal this summer.

The 6ft 7in Nigeria international told Voetbal Nieuws that his preference will be a move to the Emirates if he does in fact leave Genk this summer:

“I really like Arsenal,” Onuachu sad when quizzed about which teams he would like to join.  “(Emmanuel) Adebayor, one of the players I admired most, played there. I really was a fan of him, as well as Kanu. I really love watching Arsenal too.”

West Ham want to bring the 27-year-old hitman to the London Stadium this summer according to All Nigeria Soccer.

It seems as though we could have our work cut-out, however, with he striker so keen on joining Arsenal.

Genk want around £25 million for Onuachu this summer (All Nigeria Soccer). And it is little wonder – the Nigerian was on fire last season racking up 35 goals in 41 games for Genk.

The Genk ace has a very impressive career record as well with 124 goals in 263 games to his name.

With his size and goalscoring record, Onuachu would have been the perfect signing for West Ham this summer.

Therefore, missing out on him to the Gunners would be a big blow for David Moyes.

Arsenal are yet to make a concrete move for the Genk ace, however.

Perhaps there is still a chance for West Ham to swoop in and sign Onuachu.

If the Gunners make a bid for the Nigerian, however, it could be curtains for the Hammers.

And if the 27-year-old does eventually move to the Premier League, he will undoubtedly be a big success what with his incredible size, stature and prolific goalscoring record.
