Nigeria Super Falcons' Coach, Randy Waldrum has asked those at the helm of affairs of Nigeria football to give his team a proper preparation for the Olympics after his team qualified on Tuesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The US tactician spoke in the post match conference of South Africa and Nigeria in Pretoria where Nigeria edged it 1-0 on aggregate after a 1-0 win in Abuja and a goalless draw in South Africa.
Asked what was on his mind after breaking a 16-year jinx of the team not featuring at the global sporting event, Waldrum disclosed that is challenge was for the Sport Minister and the Nigeria Football Federation to give the girls adequate preparation as they go to the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
He further stated that team after deservedly qualifying should be prepare in the best possible way especially with the calibre of teams in their group which he likens to a group of death.
"My plea and my challenge is to the minister of sport and to the Federation to help us prepare properly. We need to camp in Europe to help us prepare for the group that we have. We need proper training, we need proper transportation, we need to do things right because this women deserve this opportunity to go represent their country, Nigeria in the best possible way that we know with the field been small every team is top team. You look at our group again just like the world cup it's group of death so to speak.
Nigeria have been drawn in group C with Japan, Spain and Brazil for the 2024 Olympic Games slated for July-Aug in Paris.
