Pape Matar Sarr will continue his career in Italy after joining Juventus from Tottenham Hotspur on loan until the end of the current season.
The move for the Senegal international was confirmed by Juventus on the club’s official website. The Turin side will pay Tottenham Hotspur €2m for the temporary transfer, while the agreement between the two clubs includes a €28m fee to sign Sarr permanently.
Sarr will wear number 29 during his time with Juventus, where he will provide another option in central midfield. The 23-year-old arrives after a season in which he made 37 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur in all competitions.
He scored twice during that campaign and also registered four assists. Those figures underline his contribution across the season, with Sarr featuring regularly while continuing his development as a Senegalese central midfielder.
The structure of the agreement gives Juventus the opportunity to retain Sarr beyond the current loan period by paying the previously agreed €28m fee. For now, however, the player’s move to Italy is limited to the remainder of the season.
Sarr’s transfer means his immediate future will be in Serie A rather than with Tottenham Hotspur. Juventus have secured his services for the current campaign, with the loan payment set at €2m and the permanent transfer amount already established in the clubs’ agreement.
