Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele will be out for several months after suffering a left-thigh injury in the club’s 4-2 Champions League win over Barcelona.
The French club confirmed the extent of the injury alongside updates on captain Marquinhos and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who were also hurt during the match.
Kvaratskhelia has torn the cruciate ligament in his knee and is expected to undergo surgery soon. The Georgia international’s absence adds to PSG’s injury concerns following the victory over Barcelona.
Marquinhos suffered an injury to his right thigh, although the problem is not considered as serious as Dembele’s. The PSG captain is expected to require several weeks to recover.
Dembele’s injury is the most significant of the three, with the France forward facing a lay-off lasting several months.
PSG’s next fixture is at home against Lyon on 25 October in the eighth round of the French championship. Kick-off is scheduled for 22:45 Moscow time.
