Ousmane Dembele refuses to promote himself in Ballon d’Or race

Paris Saint-Germain and France forward Ousmane Dembele says he will not campaign for votes as he bids to win the Ballon d’Or for a second successive year.

Dembele won the award in 2025 and is once again among the contenders for football’s most prestigious individual honour.

Asked to name one argument that could persuade the judging panel to vote for him, Dembele replied: “I don’t have one, because I never promote myself. I will never advertise myself.”

His stance contrasts with that of Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe, who have previously said they deserve to win the Ballon d’Or.

The award ceremony will take place in London on 26 October.
