Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has suffered a hamstring injury during their 4-1 win against Liverpool on Wednesday, after confirmation by the Italian club, Napoli.
Osimhen was a substitute in the game after what seemed a hamstring injury in the 41st minutes of the encounter.
He had been a doubt for the tie against Liverpool following a knock he suffered in Napoli's win last weekend against Lazio.
He however was included in the starting line after passing a late fitness test.
Consequently, the injury has been assessed and it was revealed to be a second-degree hamstring injury which rules him out of the upcoming international break.
"As scheduled, Victor Osimhen underwent diagnostic tests this morning which revealed a second-degree injury to his right hamstring," An update on the striker's injury from Napoli read.
"The striker had already started carrying out therapy yesterday [Thursday]."
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play Algeria in an international friendly on September 27.
