Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro is savoring the quality Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen will bring to his team as the gaffer continue aim for a triumphant outing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Osimhen is having a year of mixed numbers with the 24 year-old struggling to stay fit due to injury.
The former Lille striker missed the 2021 AFCON due to injury, but Osimhen beating any unforeseen casualty is certain to be one of the first names on Peseiro’s team sheet in Ivory Coast.
When asked if the Eagles’ fate at the 2023 AFCON is in the hands of Osimhen, Peseiro went tongue wagging on his star striker.
”It’s fundamental, there’s no point in hiding.
“The team is strong, but Victor… is Victor. I met him at the Bernabeu before the match against Real Madrid, we chatted in the hotel and I saw him calm, recharged. I told him that he will be our flagship in Ivory Coast.
“He is a hard worker, a leader without an armband, a tireless person. I am sure that he will become the next captain of Nigeria.” The Portuguese told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
