Senegal coach Alain Giresse has praised his players for their performance in a 5-2 win over Guinea in an international friendly on Tuesday.
The teams met in a pre-Africa Cup of Nations warm-up match in Casablanca. A brace from Dame Ndoye, added to strikes from Kara M’Bodji, Alfred Ndiaye and Moussa Konate accounted for the Lions of Teranga’s goals, while Guinea scored through Kevin Constant and Ibrahima Conte.
“We got the momentum going. We saw players who were hungry and who took their responsibilities on the pitch,” Giresse told APS after the match.
“But the most important is to be ready on D-Day [Senegal’s opening match of AFCON 2015].
“What is important is more the content of the match than the score. We saw players focused during the entire game.
“Apart from their individual qualities, the players worked together to get the result.”
Senegal’s opening game of the tournament is against Group C rivals Ghana in Mongomo on January 19, while Guinea will begin their Group D campaign against Ivory Coast in Malabo the following day.
