Acting chief executive officer of Kotoko, Opoku Nti has welcomed news of their Champions league progression but says they will not lower their guard.
Kotoko, will be handed three goals and three points if CAF confirms the withdrawal of their opponents East Lions in the first round of this season’s Champions league.
The Ghanaian champions will have the easiest task of walking into the next phase of the competition without kicking a ball.
But acting chief executive officer of the club says they will not be distracted by this development.
“It is good news for us because financially we will not be wasting the little that we have, the team was poised for action but now that they have confirmed that they are not playing us we will continue our preparations,” Opoku Nti is quoted by Sportscrusader.com
“Our plans will remain the same, keep playing and training and we know if we are able to up our games we can make the difference this season.”
Kotoko will face the winner of the tie between St George and El Eguma in the next round.
