Onyekuru, Awaziem, Idowu Clash in UCL Group Stage

Three Super Eagles players will clash in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League after their respective European teams were drawn in group D of the competition.

The draw for the group stages of the competition was held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, France on Thursday.

Henry Onyekuru playing in the competition for a second season in a row will face his compatriots Bryan Idowu of Locomotiv Moscow and Chidozie Awaziem who represents FC Porto in the preliminary round of the competition and Schalke 04 in group D.

Reigning UEFA Champions League winners, Real Madrid were drawn in group G alongside Italian Serie A side and last season’s semi-finalist, AS Roma, CSKA Moscow and Victoria Plzen.

In group A, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, AS Monaco and Club Brugge will battle for the two available spots while Barcelona Tottenham Hotspur, PSV and Inter Milan are drawn in group B.

In group C, French Champions, Paris Saint German will tackle last season’s finalists, Liverpool, SSC Napoli and Red Star Belgrade.

Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich will face Benfica, Ajax and AEK Athens in group E while English Premier League champions City, will face Shaktar Donestk, Olympique Lyon and TSG Hoffenheim in group F.

Group H houses Italian Champions, Juventus, Manchester United, Valencia and Young Boys from Switzerland.
