Onyedika World Cup Qualifiers due to injury

Published on: 27 September 2025

Club Brugge midfielder, Raphael Onyedika is facing a lengthy absence after sustaining a hamstring injury in the team's 5-5 draw with Westerlo on Wednesday night, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The 24-year-old was forced off the pitch early in the game and is expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks.

Onyedika's injury will see him miss Nigeria's upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic next month.

The midfielder has been in good form for Club Brugge this season, making eight league appearances and scoring a crucial goal in the team's 4-0 UEFA Champions League win over Monaco last week.

The extent of Onyedika's injury will likely impact Club Brugge's midfield options in the coming weeks, as well as Nigeria's preparations for the World Cup Qualifiers.
