Southampton have surprisingly included Paul Onuachu in their 25-man squad for the 2024/25 Premier League season, despite earlier indications suggesting he would leave the club, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The 30-year-old Nigerian striker spent last season on loan at Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor and was expected to depart the South Coast club after being omitted from the Saints' matchday squad for their opening three league games.
Trabzonspor had been interested in signing Onuachu permanently, but Southampton's €15 million valuation proved a stumbling block.
Onuachu will now compete for a place in the team alongside his international teammate, Joe Aribo, who is also in the squad.
Although, Forest’s coach, Russell Martins praised the lanky striker for his attitude to training during preseason but his inclusion still comes as a surprise.
