Onome Ebi - Abia Angels is the best place for me at this moment

Nigeria's Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi has revealed the reason why she opted to pitch her tent with Nigeria Women's Football League side, Abia Angels, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

At about a week ago news broke of the experience defender's move to the local league after being without a club for some months.

She had parted ways with Spanish side Levante leaving unattached to any club, but now the 39-year-old has returned to the league after 15 years.

The former Bayelsa Queens player stated that joining Abia Angels was because she was comfortable playing with her national team coach.

“Abia Angels is the best place for me at this moment Because I have my National team Coach to help and monitor my training”.

She further stated that she needed to be in shape ahead of the Women's World Cup to hold from 20th July to 20th August, 2023.

“I need to be active and stay in form as I prepare for the world cup.”, She stated.

She believes she can contribute to making the Abia State team that are 5th on the league group B log a better team.

“We have a mixture of experienced and young players in the team , my experience is a huge advantage to the team as we face our challenges of wining our matches together”, She said.

Ebi is one of the 23 players who are camp in Turkey ahead of their double header friendly against Haiti and New Zealand on Friday and next week Tuesday.

She is the first African footballer to play in five FIFA World Cups, following her appearances at the 2003,2007,2011,2015 and 2019 editions of the tournament.
