FK Haugesund skipper William Troost-Ekong is on his way to the United States to link up with the Nigeria U23s at their training camp in Atlanta ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games.

With the Dream Team VI defense crumbling at the Suwon Invitational Tournament in June, manager Samson Siasia had no choice but to call for reinforcements, and named a couple of Super Eagles defenders in his 18-man squad, including Kingsley Madu (AS Trencin) and Troost-Ekong.

Though the Norwegian Tippeligaen is in full swing, FKH have shown their credibility by permitting one of their most important players to skip some games and represent his country at the Olympics.

“On my way to Atlanta ready to join the Olympic team #Rio2016, ” Troost-Ekong tweeted on Sunday afternoon.

If Nigeria qualifies for the final of the Men’s Tournament, Troost-Ekong will miss at least four league games against Sogndal, Stabæk, Tromsø and Lillestrøm.
