Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh would have to dig deeper into his bag for tricks that will see him build a stronger team if his dream of qualifying Nigeria for the Russia 2018 World Cup is to become a reality.

This much was adduced by former Eagles skipper, Heny Nwosu, MON while reviewing the Nigeria, Swaziland encounter played in Port-Harcourt on Tuesday.

While Nwosu is glad Nigeria qualified for the final group stage, he maintains that the players performed below expectation. “As a Nigerian, I am glad that we scored goals that gave us a chance to play in the final group stage but I must tell you from the bottom of my heart that our players did not play to the expectations of Nigerians.

Oliseh still has a big task ahead of him because these boys are yet to get a rhythm of play and that means a lot of work. He should depend less on foreign-based players and look inwards because the players at home are hungrier for action. They would go the extra mile just to prove themselves.”

Speaking on Oliseh’s decision to leave Chelsea defensive midfielder Mikel Obi and Manchester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho on the bench, the former Super Eagles assistant coach said the decision is entirely that of the coach. I felt that Mikel would have had a better control of the midfield and make those passes he is noted for but the coach has the final word.

On Iheanacho, I believe that he has age on his side and can learn more from others. He would certainly have his time with Eagles,” he stated.
