Portugal yesterday after a goalless encounter in the first of their tie against Uruguay broke the deadlock in the 52nd then proceeding to win by 2-0 with six points from two group games.
The first goal in the grueling tie generated several discussions as Cristiano Ronaldo was initially adjudged to have had a touch on the knitted cross from Bruno Fernandez’ cross.
Ronaldo went ahead to celebrate as the scorer but the goal was later reviewed and awarded to the number 8 midfielder.
Even though Ronaldo believe his head connected with the ball, football fans on social called out Ronaldo for been “selfish and self-centered.”
However, former Nigeria footballer Austine Okocha In his post match analysis saw nothing wrong in Ronaldo’s claim.
“I love his character there, which every striker do. They try to claim any goal opportunity, unfortunately for him there are cameras everywhere it was kill you clearly Bruno’s goal.” Okocha said.
The goal awarded to the jersey number 8 midfielder, Ronaldo is still on a goal in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
