Report gathered indicates that although the yet-to-be-signed new foreign coach would have loved to have the legend as his assistant, the NFF would have none of it.
A source from the NFF secretariat told nigeriasoccernet that the crew of Emmanuel Amuneke and Salisu Yusuf would continue with the new coach whenever he arrives.
“Okocha has shown a lot of interest in the job and has openly said he would be happy to serve his country in any other capacity after an illustrious career as a player. “He can’t get it,” our source said, adding that the football house had already decided on Amuneke and Salisu.
This may have put paid to Okocha’s ambition of coaching the team that brought him to global limelight. At least for now, because the incoming coach may insist on having the former midfield maestro among his back room staff.
