Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) Gbenga Ogunbote, said it would have been suicidal had his team failed to pick a point from the three southwest derbies.
In his post-match interview after last Saturday's 1-0 win over Sunshine Stars in Ikenne, Ogunbote described the win as a big relief for the team, being the first victory on the road.
"This victory is a big relief, having toiled for so many games. This is the third derby we have played, it would have been suicidal if we cannot take a point out of the three derbies.
"I'm really happy that finally, it happened, we worked for it and deservedly we were able to get it," said the oracle who praised his boys for fighting hard to get the desired result.
"The players gave it their all, they fought to keep the goal and to ensure the victory was achieved, so it was a good one for us".
On the next game against Kano Pillars, he reacted.
"That's another game, this game has come and gone, it won't come again until the second round, so we shift focus to the next game.
"All we need to do next is to do our best and make sure we pick our maximum points at home. Maximum points at home will keep us a little bit comfortable", stated the Shooting Stars' gaffer.
