In a tweet that appeared on the club's official Twitter account, Venezia announced the signing of Italian-American Gianluca Busio from Sporting Kansas City.
The 19-year old joins the newly promoted Serie A side on a permanent deal, and hopes to follow in the footsteps of fellow Americans Alexi Lalas and Michael Bradley that played in Serie A to moderate success. Busio, originally from North Carolina, signed with Sporting Kansas City while just 15, making him one of the youngest players ever to play in MLS. He has dual-citizenship thanks to his father who is originally from Brescia and will not therefore occupy a non-EU player spot in Venezia's roster.
He recently shined for the United States National team in the Gold Cup, as he helped the Stars and Stripes conquer the trophy thanks to his indefatigable play in the midfield.
