In a statement released on the club's official Twitter account, Madrid's right-back Sergio Ramos won't continue at the club for the 2021-2022 season.
Ramos, who spent 16 seasons with the merengues, playing 671 matches and scoring 101 goals, is one of the casualties of Madrid's new policy of reducing spending on salaries, as the SPanish international has reportedly refuse to cut his salary to stay with Real. According to Fabrizio Romano, the club will hold a press conference on Thursday at Valdebebas to bid farewell to Ramos.
Ramos has won everything at club and international level, winning La Liga 5 times, Copa del Rey twice, Super Copa de Espana and Champions League 4 times, UEFA Super Cup 3 times and FIFA Club World Cup 4 times, as well as a World Cup and European Championship with Spain. As for what's next for the defender, there have been rumors linking him to Man City and Guardiola, although his concrete destination remains to be seen; his next club will have to be willing to take on Ramos' hefty salary, something only a handful of clubs can do, at present.
