In a tweet on the club's official Twitter account, Atletico Madrid announced they have signed Argentine midfielder Rodrigo de Paul.
De Paul leaves Udinese after a five year spell in which he was able to showcase his talents for all to see, and joins the colchoneros on a five-year deal. There he will be under fellow Argentinian Diego Simeone, who just extended his contract to stay with Atletico. The versatile midfielder just won the Copa America for his nation for the first time since 1993 by beating rivals Brazil in the final, and De Paul played a protagonist role to help the Albiceleste achieve the title. He now hopes to do the same at Atletico, who paid a hefty 35 million euro sum to beat other clubs.
The 27-year old midfielder appeared in 177 matches for Udinese, scoring 33 goals and being a vital part of the friulani's game. We'll see if he can do the same in La Liga.
