As reported by a multitude of Mexican news outlets and finally confirmed by Club America through their Twitter account, the Mexico City side announced the signing of winger Miguel Layun, who comes back to Coapa after a spell in European football that started in 2015 with Watford, when Layun first left America. He also played for Oporto FC in Portugal as well as Sevilla and Villareal in La Liga before coming back to Mexico with Rayados de Monterrey in 2019, where he spent the last two years.
The Mexican international signs with las Aguilas on a free transfer, and hopes to find the same kind of success he had in his first stint with the club, where he won two league titles in 2013 and 2014. He left America on a sour note in 2015, after disagreements with teammates and part of the fan base caused his departure.
