In a statement published on the Club's Twitter account, Cruz Azul announced that they have extended Jesus Corona's contract with the club for two years.
Corona, already 40 years of age, will now likely end his career at Cruz Azul, to later maybe start working as a coach in some capacity, probably with the youth sector of the cementeros. He was instrumental for Cruz Azul in the Guardianes 2021, where La Maquina conquered its ninth championship and first in 23 years. Rumors were circulating that saw him linked with Chivas in the past few weeks, but Corona decided to stay with Cruz Azul, as his previous contract was set to expire in just a few days.
Corona has been with Cruz Azul for more than a decade, a spell that started in 2009. He has played in 407 matches across all competitions with los cementeros and has become one of the team's most beloved icons by the fans.
