Barnsley Football Club has agreed to recruit Claudio Gomes on a season-long loan from Premier League champions Manchester City.
Since arriving in England three years ago from Paris Saint-Germain, the highly-rated midfielder has made an impression with City's Elite Development Squad and was a key member of the squad that won Premier League 2 last season.
Gomes, a French youth international, was nominated to the European U17 Championships Team of the Tournament after helping his country finish third in Croatia.
Gomes is known for his aggressive style, but he also has a wide variety of passing skills that enable him effortlessly shift from defense to attack.
The player in an official statement said:
“I’m excited because I want to play men’s football and I think, for me, it’s a good place to play and get experience,” said Gomes, speaking to iFollow Barnsley. “I know the Championship is a good place in England and I’m excited to start playing with the guys here.
“I’ll try to do my best to help the team move forward, maybe more than last season and I'm ready to help the team go higher in the table.”
