Nigeriasoccernet.com learned that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the nominees for the 2024 CAF Awards, which will be held in December in Marrakech, Morocco.
A total of 10 players have been shortlisted for the prestigious CAF African Player of the Year and CAF Interclub Player of the Year awards. Notable nominees include Amine Gouiri, Edmond Tapsoba, Simon Adingra, and Achraf Hakimi.
The awards ceremony will also recognize the top-performing national teams and coaches from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The CAF Young Player of the Year, CAF African Goalkeeper of the Year, and CAF National Team of the Year categories will be honored.
The list included Amine Gouiri (Algeria / Rennes), Edmond Tapsoba (Burkina Faso / Bayer Leverkusen), Simon Adingra (Cote d'Ivoire / Brighton & Hove Albion), Chancel Mbemba (DR Congo / Olympique de Marseille), Serhou Guirassy (Guinea / Borussia Dortmund), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco / Paris Saint-Germain), Soufiane Rahimi (Morocco / Al Ain), Ademola Lookman (Nigeria / Atalanta), William Troost-Ekong (Nigeria / Al Kholood), Ronwen Williams (South Africa / MamelodiSundowns).
Meanwhile, Super Eagles captain Williams is nominated in all three categories: player of the year, CAF goalkeeper of the year, and CAF interclub player of the Year, while Stanley Nwabali (Nigeria / Chippa United) was nominated in the goalkeeper of the year category.
The winners will be determined by a panel of experts, including the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, and national team coaches and captains. The nominees for the Women's categories will be announced soon.
