Aston Villa have a new striker. In fact, the club announced they signed Danny Ings from Southampton in a surprise move.

It was reported by multiple sources that Ings had rejected a contract extension with Southampton, as he wanted to play at higher levels, possibly in Europe. However, in the end he decided to sign fo Aston Villa, a club that will not be playing in Europe this season, so maybe a change of scenery was in the cards for Ings.

Reportedly, Villa will pay Southampton a 30M GBP fee, a considerable amount, but one that the Villans are more than capable of paying, especially after the imminent departure of star-man Jack Grealish to Manchester City. Ings now joins the likes of Emi Buendia and Leon Bailey, who was just announced in the past few hours.

The striker spent three years at Southampton, appearing in 91 matches and scoring 41 goals in the process.
