After having joined his home club last June, after nine years away, former Dutch international goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg, turning 39 on September 2022, has been signed by Ajax, which have just achieved their 35th Eredivisie title ever, on a further year-long term.
Previously playing for Everton, Southampton, AS Monaco, Fulham, and AS Roma, Stekelenburg won his third Dutch national title, together with his fourth national cup, besides three Johann Cruyff Shields. The 1982-born was named Ajax Player of the Year twice, both in 2008 and 2010.
