NWSL: Uchenna Kanu's goal not enough as Racing Louisville FC falter at Kansas City

Published on: 16 June 2025

A battle between two of the most informed teams in the NWSL, Racing Louisville FC couldn't hold their ground as they fell to a  4-2 defeat against Kansas City at the CPKC Stadium with Uchenna Kanu getting on the scoresheet to register her first goal in 2025, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.

After falling behind by three goals within the first 19 minutes, Racing mounted a spirited second-half comeback, narrowing the deficit to just one. Despite their resilience, the effort fell short as they were unable to avoid defeat on the road. The loss also brought an end to Louisville’s four-match unbeaten streak away from home, a run that had stretched back to March 30th.

After an impressive showing last season, where she netted five goals in just 12 appearances, her form has dipped this year, with only one goal in five matches so far. Racing Louisville, meanwhile, sits sixth in the NWSL standings with 17 points from 12 games. The team will aim to return to winning ways when they take on Orlando Pride on June 21.

Up next for Kanu and Racing is the final match before the league break next Friday against the Orlando Pride at Lynn Family Stadium.
