NWFL Premiership: Edwin Okon "We are still a work in progress"

Published on: 23 December 2022

After their slim win against Naija Ratels in the match day four fixture of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Women's Football League Premiership season, the Coach of Rivers Angels Edwin Okon has stated that his team will get better with time.

Juanita Aguadze scored the lone from the penalty spot to give the 2021 champions their second win of the season at the University of Port Harcourt Sports Complex on Wednesday.

The Jewels of Rivers still looked a shadow of themselves despite the win as they missed chances that could have bettered their lot in the tie.

This situation doesn't make match winner, Juanita Aguadze happy despite the win.

"We did well in this game better than the last game, but we couldn't finish well. I am very disappointed especially in myself because I had more chances to score" Aguadze said

She concluded that "we will work on that, we will work on our finishing."

Meanwhile, for Coach Edwin Okon, what was more important was the win even though they were not at their best on the day.

"It is a hard fought win no doubt, we are still work in progress. We just have to keep going. The most important thing is the three points and I thank God for the three points"

Okon hoped that their subsequent home games will not be played at the University Sports Complex as they play Heartland Queens on the 4th of January.

Rivers Angels are fourth on the group A standings of the league after playing three matches with six points.
