Published on: 09 January 2024

Nigeria Women Football League NWFL Group B leaders, Edo Queens Football Club of Benin will on Wednesday January 10th, 2024 at the Samson Siasia Stadium  Yenagoa be hosted to a ding- dong fight  by Bayelsa Queens FC in Match day seven being the first  game of the the New Year for 2023/24  season of the Nigeria Women  Football  League premiership.

As we come  to the end of the  first stanza of the NWFL abridged league  this Wednesday, resilient Edo Queens FC is determined to maintain a top spot as the campaign for the  prestigious Super Six ticket gets underway. The Benin city based girls have their eyes fixed on three away points in Yenagoa, having played a lot of games,  they wouldn't want  to leave anything to chance, knowing that the host team is among the  NWFL heavyweights in the country.

Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens cracker is the NWFL star match of the week following  long time rivalry battle that has existed between both NWFL club giants.

You will recall that Edo Queens Football Club of Benin fought gallantly to secure 1-0 win  over Bayelsa Queens Football Club of Yenagoa in the finals of the third edition of Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament BOWFT,  played last year October in Benin-City. It was a fight of the titans. So Wednesday's clash is another dingy day for both teams to reopen door of their rivalry battle.

While the Godwin Obaseki ladies will be focussing on staying top in Group B table, Bayelsa Queens who currently  seating fourth on table, would also be fighting hard to come up. Therefore in any angle you look at these two giant teams, Wednesday's epic game  between both sides will be a game to remember. Again Bayelsa Queens will also resume the second stanza of the league by honouring the second leg of this encounter in Benin City. The important of this crucial game cannot be overemphasize because of the c

alibre of players paraded by both clubs and personalities of technical crew involved.

Since 2019, this is the first time both teams are engaging themselves in a competitive league match situation. Now that they find themselves in group B, there is a burning desire in the minds of both the technical crew and the players to prove to their numerous  fans that they are not pushover. Highly aggressive Bayelsa football fans expect nothing but good display of football artistry from both teams  as Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens  paint Yenagoa red.

Edo Queens manager, Moses Aduku, who was the former head coach of Bayelsa Queens FC  aka 'Prosperity Girls' will  be leading Edo Queens against his former club which football pundits have describe as the  biggest fight of the season.

But the Bayelsa born Edo Queens manager Moses Aduku, who 'insists that his girls are fully  ready on talking on his former club Bayelsa Queens of Yenagoa on Wednesday irrespective of the situation. To Edo Queens fans, this is an indication that the Benin-City ladies are not scored of the host team, and are mentally, physically and emotionally ready for the task.

According to him: " We are ready, we are focussed, and we are going to give our best. Both teams are big name in the annals of Nigeria Women Football  premiership.  There will be no dull moment. We just pray for a good day".
