NWFL: Comeback wins for Abia Angels, Ekiti Queens as Edo and Bayelsa Queens share spoils

The 2023/2024 Nigeria Women Football League season resumed to scincilating matches on Wednesday across various centres which saw comeback wins for Ekiti Queens, Sunshine Queens and Abia Angels, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Ekiti Queens rallied back to earn a 2-1 win against Remo Stars Ladies and help their relegation battle at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium Ado-Ekiti.

Hannah Ibrahim headed the ball home after connecting a cross from Blessed Isigbo in the 28 minutes to give the visiting team the lead.

However, Joy Enoch equalled score for the hosts 10 minutes to the end of the first half before Bello Sherifat scored the match winner in the 88 minute.

Abia Angels FC also staged a comeback to beat Dannaz Ladies 3-1 at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, Abia State.

Solaty Fatimoh had broken the deadlock in the 50th minute after a barren affair in the first 45 to give Dannaz Ladies the lead.

However, Enuma Chinaza started the comeback for the hosts 5 minutes later with the equaliser before Isaiah Charity scored the second goal to make it 2-1 in the 63rd minute.

Enuma put the icing on the cake with her second goal of the day and Abia Angels' third 6 minutes later to wrap up a convincing win that took the Angels to the 4th position in group A.

Group B bottom place, Sunshine Queens defeated defending champions, Delta Queens 2-1 in Akure after coming back from a goal down.

Bolaji Olamide scored twice to cancel Chisom Nwachukwu's earlier goal and give Sunshine Queens the 3 points.

Meanwhile, the week's star match between Edo Queens and Bayelsa Queens ended goalless at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Rivers Angels also shared the spoils with Robo Queens after a 1-1 affair at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Porthacourt.
