NWFL Championship: Imo Striker Queens Chairman gets final warning

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has issued a stern final warning to the Chairman of Imo Striker Queens FC Prince Chidi following a series of misconduct incidents during the 2024 NWFL Championship Match No. 9 against Pelican Stars FC on September 1, 2024 as made available to Nigeriasoccernet.com.

The NWFL’s board and management, have expressed their concerns over the Chairman’s behaviour, which included verbal abuse directed at match officials and league management. This conduct was deemed to be in violation of the NWFL's rules, specifically Article 23.1 and 23.2.2 of the league's regulations.

Article 23.1 mandates that all individuals involved in the league must act in the best interest of the game, adhering to principles of fair play and sportsmanship. It states that any actions capable of bringing the game into disrepute, through words, conduct, or behavior, are considered misconduct.

Article 23.2.2 outlines the penalties for such violations, including a fine of N2,000,000 and a suspension of three months for any club owner or official who disparages the league or engages in behavior that brings the game into disrepute.

In response to these breaches, the NWFL has issued a final warning to Imo Striker Queens FC. Any further incidents of misconduct by the club’s officials will result in severe penalties.

The NWFL has called on Imo Striker Queens FC to take immediate corrective action to ensure that their club officials conduct themselves with professionalism and in accordance with the sporting spirit. The league organizers expects the club to address the behavior promptly and maintain the integrity of the league.
