A brace from Abdulrahman Bashir and a goal from Aminu Kadir gave coach Kabiru Dogo's side the third victory at their adopted Aper Aku Stadium home ground in Makurdi.

It was a shot in the arm for Nasarawa United's quest to climb out of the unfamiliar relegation zone they have been hanging around since the start of the season when they lost their opening fixture 2-1 to newcomers, MFM.

The Solid Miners produced a fruitful and resounding victory against a resilient Giwa FC side in a rescheduled Match Day 3 fixture of the NPFL. After a bright attacking opening from the home side with some flowing passing football, Giwa FC tried to hold their own in the middle of the pack through Charles Henlong and Amos Gyang who combined well to create few goal scoring chances.

Bashir opened scoring after 19 minutes when he latched onto a loose ball from Giwa FC's defender Nojeem Raji inside the 18 yard box and made no mistake in tapping in.

As the game progressed, Nasarawa United kept possession and searched for the security goal. But the goal would come at the wrong end on 30 minutes when Aminu Mbai netted the equalising goal for the Jos Elephants.

Smelling blood, Giwa FC sought the advantage and on 35 minutes made their first substitution to bring on Abubakar Ahmed for Charles Okoro. But it was Nasarawa United that continued the search for the winning goal as they restricted Giwa FC to their half. It was Bashir again who gave the home team the lead during the additional time before the half time. They took the lead to the locker room.

The second half started on a very good note with the two sides having shots on target. Nasarawa United then increased their lead through substitute Aminu Kadir who had came on for Yaro Bature on 55 minutes.

Giwa FC did fight back, attempting to reduce the deficit but the resilient defence line of Nasarawa United did not give room for mistakes as the game ended 3-1.

Bashir was voted man of the match as reward for his two goals on the day.
