NPFL'23: Tornadoes overturn 2 goals deficit to share spoils with Rangers in Awka

Munir Idris' second half double rescued a point for Niger Tornadoes after hosts Rangers had earlier went into the break ahead, courtesy of goals from Chidiebere Nwobodo and Kenneth Igboke as the hosts put up a brilliant first fourty five minutes display in an NPFL Match-Day 14 encounter which took place at the Awka Township Stadium in Anambra.

Rangers got into the groove when Chidiebere Nwobodo shot his side into the lead in the 24th minute as he tapped in from a rebound after Godwin Obaje's effort scrambled over the post.

The hosts continued their rampage when Kenneth Igboke doubled the lead exactly on the half hour mark off a brilliant counter attacking play.

Tornadoes coach Abubakar Bala Mohammed exhibited a tactical master piece when subbed on attacking duo of Munir Idris and Nurudeen Jimoh in place of Jonas Emmanuel and Shola Abdulraheem shortly before the half time whistle, despite going two goals down.

Second half proceedings resumed and Niger Tornadoes took over control of the game as enterprising Munir Idris capitalized on Idris Saidu's fine short and cross, he control the ball with his chest and blasted into the roof to reduce the tally.

The Ikon Allah Boys gained momentum as Munir Idris initiated an attack and combined beautifully with his teammates in a sweet and brilliant movement of the ball as the Junior Intl, again tapped in from Nurudeen Jimoh's fine pull out to level things up.

Both Nurudeen and Abba Khalid came close to increasing the visitors tally. Nurudeen side nets off a brilliant assist by Waheed Adebayo while Abba Khalid found himself in the area after a solo run and tried a shot but was intercepted.

The arbiters signalled 7 additional minutes to play and in the midst awarded a penalty to the hosts after Mark Daniel was adjudged to have committed a foul in the box. Chidera Eze blasted the penalty over the bar as the encounter ended all squared.

The vital away points means Niger Tornadoes remains strong contender for a top 3 finish.

They host Abia Warriors next in Minna.
