NPFL'23: Top of the table clash in Benin highlights the weekend as Kwara United face a do or die task in Aba

Published on: 28 January 2023

If there is a place to be this weekend, its definitely going to be at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin where NNL foes will rekindle their rivalry, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

Bendel Insurance vs Remo Stars

Bendel Insurance will host Remo Stars in group A top of the table clash on Saturday.

A perfect start for both sides in the league going into their match day 4 encounter and while Bendel Insurance defense has been breached once, Remo Stars are unblemish.

Bendel Insurance

A solid start to the season has seen them recorded two away victories and one home win in their first 3 games if the 2023 NPFL season. Coach Monday's side have proven they have what it takes to rub shoulders with the big boys despite only retuning to the league this season.

Although they claim their target is to sustain their NPFL status, this team looks like one with a secret plan to shock the entire nation.

Remo Stars

After leading Remo Stars to the topflight during the 2021/22 season, Daniel Ogunmodede returned to the helm of affairs a year after leaving the team. The crop of players in the club are those Ogunmodede led in the NNL and the chemistry in the team seems to remain intact as we've seen them produced wonderful results in the league so far.

Three games, three wins, 5 goals scored, none conceded, Remo Stars are definitely a team to beat and with their achievement in the league last season where they picked a continental ticket, this team is definitely no longer the relegation team they used to be years ago.

Recent Meetings

It was a thug of war the last time both teams met. Their meeting was in the NNL during the 2020/21 season when Bendel Insurance won the first leg by a lone goal and the second leg was abandoned due to fans encroachment.

Its really going to be a tough one today so the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin as both teams square up once again for the top of the table clash.

Rivalry rekindle I'll say, the battle of nemesis with a lot to watch out for.

Dakkada vs Rivers United

Reigning champions Rivers United continue the bid to defend their title as they visit Akwa Ibom for a date with Dakkada FC.

While Rivers United have amassed 7 points from a possible 9 in their opening 3 games, Dakkada have gathered 4 from their first 3 games.

A tricky visit to the Godswill Akpabio Stadium for the champions on Saturday, a ground where they'll play their CAF Confederation Cup games. No better way to make the place their own than today when they play Dakkada FC.

Enyimba vs Kwara United

A now or never fixture for Kwara United who have failed to score a goal in their opening three fixtures of the 2023 NPFL games.

A very poor start for a team who played fantastically well in their CAF Confederation Cup before getting knocked out.

With the pressure summing up, Kwara United can't afford to slip up again but against the most successful Nigerian club in Aba, it will be an almost impossible task for them.

Enyimba having failed to pick the maximum points at home for three games running now, the Finidi George led side will definitely want to capitalize on the weaknesses of Kwara United to end fruit poor run of form in front of the Aba fans.

Great games awaits us this weekend at the Nigeria Premier Football League match day 4 fixtures.
