NPFL'23: Nasarawa United share spoils with ENYIMBA in Aba

Published on: 30 March 2023

The Solid Miners marched on from their slim 0-1 away loss to Remo Stars FC during the weekend to force a 1-1 draw against eight-time Nigeria Premier Football League Champions, Enyimba FC, at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, Abia State, on Wednesday evening.

The mid-week tie saw the Aba Elephants heading to the break leading 1-0 after Chukwuemeka Obioma converted from the spot in the 12th minute.

Rejuvenated to avoid a consecutive defeat, Nasarawa United rallied round and drew parity in the 76th through substitute, Emmanuel Ogbole, following a defence-splitting pass from Chidera Nduka.

It was the prodigy's second league goal of the current campaign.

The Lafia-based side were unable to convert other begging chances that came their path, but ensured the points were shared, their second on the road this season.

They would return home to host bottom-placed El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri on Saturday, 1st April, 2023, in a must-win clash as they continue with their battle against the drop zone.

BALA NIKYU reacting to the outcome of the game said: "It was a good game, not because of the result, but because of the determination of my players - at least, everybody was determined to play.

"I think if we had played half of what we played at Remo Stars, we would have gone with a win today because we played better at Remo than we did here today.

"However, I am happy to see that the boys are interested in getting something positive.

"There weren't so much differences between what you saw in the first stanza and now. This stanza, there is a change in character of the players and we have been able to blend everybody together."
