At the New Jos Stadium, Plateau United were a handful for El Kanemi Warriors in the match day 8 encounter on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Former NPFL champions scored the highest number of goals in a match day so far this season after dispatching El Kanemi Warriors by five goals to nil.

They waited no time to score the first goal courtesy of Sunday Anthony after a pass from Ibrahim Mustapha in the second minute.

Izuchukwu Chimezie got an hamstring injury in the 17th minute and was replaced by Jackson Eru who scored two minutes later after reacting to increase the lead of the host.

Mustapha Ibrahim scored ten minutes later against his former Club after head in the ball from a Daniel Itodo's long throw.

El Kanemi Warriors held on to concede more goals as the first half came to an end with the score staying at 3-0.

At the second half, the Warriors tried to curtail United, but it was not for long as a penalty was awarded to the Peace Boyd after Jackson Eru was fouled in the box which was converted by Tochukwu Micheal in the 66th minute.

The Visitors seem to be affected by the weather as the host went for more goals.

The incing on the cake came at the stroke of 90 minutes as substitute, Uche Onwoasoayan headed in the fifth for Plateau United to consolidate the win.

Plateau United are now third just two points shy of second place, Enyimba on the group A log while El Kanemi Warriors just have one point separating them from rock bottom, Nasarawa United.
