The Promise Keepers defeated the Savannah Scorpions by a lone goal scored by Uche Collins in the first half of the game.
In a game controlled by the Host, it was not until the 5th minute that Collins hit a shot but it went straight into the hands of the goalie.
Three minutes later, Collins made it count, scoring his second goal of the season after heading the ball home from a James Ajako’s cross to leave the Uyo fans in a frenzy.
Gombe United came close to equalling score after a defensive blip, but the striker could not do justuce to the rare chance in the first half.
The half ended with the Boys at home being on the ascendency trying to increase their lead, but it remained 1-0.
By the second half, Gombe United steeped up their performance for an equaliser, but the home side remained resolute at defense.
Akwa United held on to ensure their fourth win in 8 matches which keeps them fourth on the group A log with fourteen points garnered.
